A few quick notes:
1. Apple maggot trap catches at
Highmoor Farm are very high this year. This does not appear to be a
year to take chances with letting apple maggot coverage lapse. Unless
you have trap data indicating otherwise, continuous protection should be
maintained until a final insecticide application is made no earlier than
August 15 (and preferably a bit later if preharvest interval allows it.)
2. Second generation leafminer
mines are now appearing, but population at Highmoor is very low. Brian
will be checking for LM at IPM Scouting Co-op blocks next week. Because
first generation populations were very few around Maine, I do not expect
second generation problems, but still worth a look.

3. European red mites continue to
be remarkably low.
4. Second generation codling moth egg hatch expected to begin around August 9 at Highmoor Farm in Monmouth. See Orchard Radar for other sites. 5. Time to consider status of your fungicide coverage against flyspeck. Full dose captan applied before July 11 has probably lost efficacy at preventing flyspeck. See New England Apple Pest Management Guide for flyspeck fungicide interval guidelines. Captan at full dose is good for 21 days or 2.5 inches of rain between applications. See Orchard Radar tables for updated estimates based on recent and forecast weather.
