Properly packaged specimens are necessary to identify insects and suggest management strategies. Plant materials should be placed in a plastic bag. Insects (except butterflies and moths) should be placed in a small leak-proof container with rubbing alcohol for preservation. Butterflies and moths should be packed in tissue or cotton.
When sending an insect, you are encouraged to give as much information as possible. This will help in the identification of the specimen to provide you with the most accurate information as possible.
